After helping to anchor the 35th Annual KVIE Art Auction all weekend, Rob Stewart of Rob on the Road kept the celebration of art in the community going by emceeing the reveal of the major work of art at the Golden 1 Center, accompanied by KVIE photographer Martin Christian. Coloring Book by Jeff Koons is an 18-foot-tall glass piece, one of many public works of art at the new arena. Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé said the work “represents everything great about Sacramento” – a mosaic city with a wonderful combination of people.

Here’s what Rob had to say about the big reveal:

What a thrill to emcee the unveiling of Jeff Koons’ masterpiece, Coloring Book! Hundreds of art supporters turned out for the big countdown and reveal of this one-of-a-kind public art creation. It was a joy to stand on stage with Jeff and see his face light up as the curtain fell away and Coloring Book, with more than 400 panes of colored glass, came to life at the Golden 1 Center. This will be iconic for Sacramento. Vivek Ranadivé predicts this will become the selfie center of Sacramento. And the artist was clearly moved at how the crowd immediately began to interact with his piece the second the curtain revealed the statue.
