The sound does not match picture when I watch KVIE. What is happening?
The sound and picture can become mismatched in time that is the sound can lead or lag with respect to the picture. Some digital television receivers can cause this problem. Changing to another channel and then back to KVIE should fix the problem.
The background music is too loud, so much that I cannot hear the narrator. What can I do?
KVIE employs sophisticated audio processing equipment to help keep the sound levels constant. However there are other things beyond our transmission system that can cause problems. In many cases, you can make simple adjustments with your surround sound or stereo settings. First, try turning off your surround sound feature. In some cases, surround sound may over modulate music. You might also try changing your audio setting from "stereo" to "mono."
I am receiving KVIE through an antenna and am getting poor reception. What should I do?
Make sure your antenna is a VHF/UHF antenna. Many so called DTV antennas sold were UHF only. UHF only antennas will not work.
If you are using an outdoor antenna check that it is aimed towards our transmitter site at Walnut Grove. Here is the FCC antenna web site where you can enter your address and determine where to aim your antenna.
If you are using an indoor antenna you may need to experiment with different locations and orientation to get satisfactory reception. Locating the antenna near a window facing towards Walnut Grove may help. Outdoor antennas are preferable and will always give better results than an indoor antenna.

I am receiving other channels but not KVIE. What should I do?
You may need to do a channel search or scan for new channels. If you are using an indoor antenna you may need to slightly readjust the position or orientation of the antenna and perform the scan again after each adjustment. If you are using an outdoor antenna you should check the direction the antenna is aimed. It needs to be aimed at our transmitter site at Walnut Grove. See the previous question for more information.
