How the Art Auction Works

Step 1 Register to bid

It's easy to register! You can pre-register now so you're all set before the auction, or you will be registered when you call to place your first bid during the live auction. Always use your primary phone number as your personal Bidder ID. This makes it easier for our volunteers to place your bid!  If you've bid on artwork within the past five years, you do not need to register again.

Step 2 Preview the collection / Bid early on your favorite works of art

Explore the collection online. You can also preview the collection in person at PBS KVIE. The collection will be on display throughout the station lobby, community room, and studio corridor through September 28. Early bidding is available online as well as in person. Bids will be updated nightly leading up to the live auction. Be sure to note the date and time your favorite pieces are scheduled to air.

Step 3 How to bid during the live auction

Once the live auction begins, bidding is conducted by telephone only. Start watching the auction before your art comes up for bid and be ready to call. When the auctioneer announces your item, call 1-844-KVIE-ART (844-584-3278) toll-free and tell the volunteer your primary phone number. The auction moves quickly. Most items are sold within 15 minutes.

Step 4 Confirmation and Payment

If you are the winning bidder, PBS KVIE staff will confirm your bid and process payment immediately after the item closes. PBS KVIE accepts all major credit cards, and we are required by law to collect California sales tax.

Step 5 Art Pickup

PBS KVIE offers contact-free curbside pickup. Confirmed winners may pick up purchased art at PBS KVIE the following days:

  • Sunday, Oct. 2, 10AM - 5PM
  • Monday, Oct. 3, 9AM - 5PM
  • Tuesday, Oct. 4 9AM - 5PM

You will receive a sales receipt upon item pickup.
