Meet the Team

PBS KVIE and the Fundraising Events team are proud to present the 2020 PBS KVIE Art Auction. Below you will meet a few of the people responsible for putting on this annual event, which represents some of the best art this region has to offer.

Mariellen Layne – Art Curator

Mariellen is responsible for selecting all the artwork that becomes part of the Art Auction collection. In addition to that, Mariellen has the important job of selecting the Art Auction award jurors, arranging when pieces are shown on-air, and ensuring that artist information is current and accurate. This is Mariellen's first year as Art Curator. Prior to being Curator, she was an on-air art expert, contributing artist, and volunteer art handler for several years of the Art Auction.

Steve Sweeney – On-Air Fundraising and Events Supervisor / Art Auction Producer

Steve has been involved in all aspects of the Art Auction during his time with PBS KVIE. This year marks his third year as Auction Producer. Steve is responsible for the on-air presentation of the live, televised event and the coordination of staff and volunteers to make the show run as smoothly as possible. This will be Steve’s seventh Art Auction.

Holly Healy – Community Engagement & Events Project Manager

Holly's Art Auction role will be planning and executing the Art Auction Preview Gala. The Preview Gala is the annual party which takes place the week before the Art Auction. Artists and the community come together to view all the art in the collection while sipping on regional wine and eating tastes from local restaurants. During the Auction, Holly will be assisting behind the scenes during the televised event. This will be her second Art Auction.

Virginia Michel – Fundraising Events Assistant

Virginia will be assisting in all facets of the auction including art intake, volunteer coordination, and auction planning. As the primary artists liaison, Virginia communicates frequently with artists to collect artwork information, artist statements, and biographical information for on-air presentation. During the auction she will be training volunteers on fielding auction bidding, and serving as a Floor Producer. This will be Virginia’s fourth Art Auction.

Sean Odom – Fundraising Events Support

Sean will be assisting both the Preview Gala and live Auction in a variety of ways, from art intake to art handling and packaging, upon buyer pick-up. Post-auction, Sean coordinates additional art pick up, payment, and delivery beyond the initial window of in-studio pick up days. This is Sean’s third Art Auction.
