The Marketing Assistant is an entry-level position providing administrative support to the marketing team by creating content for digital, social media, and print publications and ensuring our schedule is current. Essential Functions

  • Assists marketing department with the promotion of station programming and initiatives.
  • Drafts publicity documents, including but not limited to blog posts, social media messages, web copy, and more traditional press releases and on-air tune-in promotion.
  • Drafts content and obtains imagery for a variety of station print and online publications. Maintains and organizes image library.
  • Performs basic website content and image maintenance as assigned.
  • Proofs marketing material, including print and digital, as assigned.
  • Prepares monthly programming calendar for staff.
  • Coordinates programming schedule, including sending the monthly schedule to listings services and issuing schedule changes as needed.
  • Works closely with the Production team to upload video content to the website and YouTube. Uploads local programs and coordinates promotional priorities through various PBS tools and applications.
  • Regularly updates local production ProTrack records with descriptions.
  • Assists the member services team with inquiries related to programming.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be mission-driven and passionate about the role of public media.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective and proactive communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with diverse stakeholders as a team.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent proofreading skills – familiarity with AP style preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task with little supervision.
  • Photoshop and WordPress or other photo/web software experience desirable.
  • Social media management experience desirable.

Education / Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
  • One year of general office/clerical experience preferred.

Special Conditions

  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
