Giving Stock & Other Appreciated Securities

Giving stock and other appreciated securities can help you and PBS KVIE convert your portfolio gains into real community change.

If your securities are worth more now than what you paid and you’ve held them for at least one year, you are eligible for a charitable tax deduction. You will also avoid capital gains tax when you donate the asset as opposed to selling and gifting the proceeds. You may find this enables you to make a larger gift than you could have made with cash. Stocks and other appreciated securities can also be used to fund charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
