On Display: February 11 - February 28, 9AM - 5PM at PBS KVIE

This year, we're partnering with the California Art Education Association to celebrate visual arts and raise awareness for the importance of art education during Youth Art Month! Selected K-12 students have the special opportunity to experience what it feels like to exhibit their art in a gallery. Participating in this exhibition is a life changing experience for kids that helps them build self-esteem and confidence.

The California Art Education Association strives to strengthen visual arts education in all levels, believing art is the best medium to help children express themselves and their emotions. Beginning in 1961, Youth Art Month is a staple for the CAEA. It is through this event that they work to emphasize the necessity of art education, expand arts programs in schools, encourage commitment to the arts by students and teachers, and so much more. When children create art, they are expanding their minds, developing their imaginations, investigating problem-solving skills, and processing difficult emotions. Art can be a vehicle for healing and connection; it teaches students that despite their differences, everyone can find their sanctuary in art.

More than 80 pieces of artwork from talented Northern California students have been selected and will be on display in the Enlow and Melena Ose Community Room from February 11 – 28. Stop by and visit during open hours on weekdays from 9AM – 5PM and Saturdays from 9AM – 4PM (closed on major holidays). You can also follow us on Instagram (@kviepbsarts) to see some of the amazing art and meet the students who created it!
