Supports the accounting and human resources departments by ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations, including accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management, while also assisting with HR administrative functions. Essential Functions

Accounts Receivable

  • Opens and organizes membership and sponsorship payments.
  • Creates batches in QuickBooks and processes checks into the banking system.
  • Posts membership payments in the RevCRM database.

Accounts Payable

  • Prepares monthly sales tax return.
  • Assists in preparing the annual 1099s.

Accounting/General

  • Reconciles monthly membership expenses.
  • Assists with monthly close and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including prepaids, deferred revenue, and monthly benefits reconciliation.
  • Researches and prepares routine and non-routine reports as directed.
  • Prepares budgets for grant applications and reporting.
  • Maintains compliance with annual regulatory filings.
  • Supports human resources with recruitment, filing, reports, and projects as needed.
  • Scans and files accounting and human resources documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be mission-driven and passionate about the role of public media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear, open, and proactive communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Collaborative and works effectively with diverse stakeholders as a team.
  • Positively and professionally represents PBS KVIE throughout the community.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting database systems.
  • Works with confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Education / Experience

  • AA degree in related accounting field or equivalent experience.

Special Conditions

  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
