Employment – Segment Producer

PBS KVIE is looking ahead to our 18^th season of America’s Heartland, the popular national television series celebrating American agriculture.  This new season will focus largely on California’s cornucopia of specialty crops. Our ideal Story Producer has extensive experience as a video storyteller and a strong familiarity with agriculture, including specialty crops that appeal to diverse communities, working with growers and other stakeholders associated with those crops.

• Research assigned stories; contact story subjects for pre-interview conversation, discuss proposed production plans, etc.
• Work with Series Producer on shoot scheduling, story focus, and travel arrangements.
• Work with Videographer and Audio Tech on field production.
• Review all footage and interviews.
• Write story and submit for review; revise script if needed as instructed by Series Producer.
• Work with Editor on construction of video segment; revise as needed after review.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be mission-driven and passionate about the role of public media.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective and proactive communication skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Collaborative and works effectively with diverse stakeholders as a team.
• Positively and professionally represents PBS KVIE throughout the community.
• The ability to manage and work with a team of producers, videographers, editors, production coordinators, and others is essential.

• Minimum of three years of professional producing experience.

• Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Light travel required.
