At-Home Learning Banner

As Northern California schools close to slow the spread of coronavirus, thousands of students are without access to educational instruction.

As part of the public media mission to ensure all kids, regardless of their capabilities, have access to continued free educational resources at home, PBS KVIE, in partnership with other California PBS stations, is offering broadcast programming that adheres to California’s state curriculum to provide continued at-home learning.

  • Our KVIE2 channel airs programming for grades Pre-K through 12 weekdays from 6AM to 6PM
(see schedule for which hours correspond with which grades).
  • KVIE WORLD channel airs programming for grades 6 through 12 weekdays for 9AM to noon.
  • KVIEHD channel airs programming for children 2 to 8 years old weekdays from 6:30AM to 1:30PM.
  • KVIE PBS KIDS channel airs programming for children 2 to 8 years old 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

How to Watch KVIE2 and KVIE WORLD

All four of PBS KVIE’s channels are free to receive over the air, and we offer them to free for service providers. To find the channel designations for your service provider, visit our Schedule page. In the top left corner of our schedule module (under the date, next to where it says “Current Provider”), click “Change Provider” and select your provider. The channel number will now appear in the schedule below.

Regrettably, nationally the satellite providers (Dish and Direct TV) have chosen not to carry any of the PBS stations' sub-channels even though these channels are available to them at no cost.

However, if you have a High-End Top Box from Direct TV or Dish Network, you may be able to add an UHF/VHF antenna to the back of your High End Top Box. Just look for the Antenna In connection on the back of the HETB and perform an autoscan from your television remote. Once this task is completed, you will receive PBS KVIE subchannels and all of the other local channels.
