About the Artist

Head began as an illustrator after high school in 1984 when he drew fish, wildflowers, poison ivy, and animal wildlife for California State Parks & Recreation brochures. After two years earning his art degree at Sacramento City College, Head switched to fine art and has shown locally at B. Sakata Garo, Matrix, Sparrow Gallery, and others. Additionally, Head taught a class in African hieroglyphics at the Crocker Art Museum. As a collector of comic books from the 1930s-40s, Head achieves a vintage feel to his piece - which are collected nationally. He admits to creating a bit of shock value to get the viewer to look at all the complex images which are open to many narrative interpretations.
