Essential Functions
- Working with the president and general manager, oversees the organization’s regional digital information service.
- Leads related community engagement efforts by exploring community events, regional calendars and developing/pitching event ideas.
- Supports fundraising efforts, including the development of fundraising strategies that support local news.
- Serves as a public conduit with foundations, members and civic leaders who support PBS KVIE.
- Offers administrative support as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be mission-driven and passionate about the role of public media.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Clear, open, and proactive communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Collaborative and works effectively with diverse stakeholders as a team.
- Positively and professionally represents PBS KVIE throughout the community.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee development.
- Knowledgeable about the Greater Sacramento area.
Education / Experience
- 10-plus years’ experience in a major news operation, preferably in Northern California, including experience as an editor or other newsroom leader.
- Master’s Degree in journalism, communications, or a similar field.
Special Conditions
- Must have a valid California driver’s license and meet insurance standards.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Light local travel required.
