Host Mailha Yang and videographer Rich Enos capture elements for an upcoming episode.

KVIE's programming philosophy is to air and create programs that reflect the community back to itself. In doing so, our productions reflect our rich history, introduce us to the people and places in the present, and help us plan for the future.

In addition to our productions America's Heartland, California Heartland, Central Valley Chronicles, and California Connected, we are proud of the range of relevant, compelling and diverse programs that we've produced this year.

And, we're particularly proud that we earned 10 Emmy Awards in 2004, more than any other station in our market.

Pioneer Quest: A Year in the Real West

It's more hands-on history from public television! Join us for this reality-based series that chronicles two couples’ experiences as they live the lives of prairie settlers in the late 1800s.

The 20-something Logies and the 40-something Treadways are given a plot of untouched land north of Winnepeg, Canada. They are equipped with tools, clothing, animals and seeds that the average 19th-century settlers would have brought with them. The only concessions to modern times are birth control, a handheld camera for recording and a cell phone for any medical emergencies. This 9-episode series follows these intrepid couples as they spend the coldest winter in 121 years in their new homes on the Manitoba prairie.
