Host Mailha Yang and videographer Rich Enos capture elements for an upcoming episode.

KVIE's programming philosophy is to air and create programs that reflect the community back to itself. In doing so, our productions reflect our rich history, introduce us to the people and places in the present, and help us plan for the future.

In addition to our productions America's Heartland, California Heartland, Central Valley Chronicles, and California Connected, we are proud of the range of relevant, compelling and diverse programs that we've produced this year.

And, we're particularly proud that we earned 10 Emmy Awards in 2004, more than any other station in our market.

California Connected

Fridays at 7:30PM; Sundays at 10AM

Recognizing the need for a newsmagazine that focuses on issues crucial to the state, four of California's public television stations - KVIE, KCET in Los Angeles, KQED in San Francisco, and KPBS in San Diego - have joined forces for the first time to produce the weekly one-hour television and Internet newsmagazine. "California Connected" examines the state's challenges and opportunities, as well as profile California residents who are making the state a better place to live.

Television's unique ability to build communities and empower people is at the core of "California Connected." The program's mission is to think deeper, build bridges and encourage understanding about issues affecting California in communities and sectors all across the state.

Visit the Web Site
California Connected has an active Web site to further enhance the series, prolong public engagement and spark viewer dialogue. The site, www.californiaconnected.org, hosts bulletin boards, chat features, ancillary articles, relevant links, partner content and daily news updates. Viewers and visitors who log on to the California Connected Web site will also have an opportunity to watch the program's daily news briefs and other behind-the-scenes content, and contribute questions to the program that they want addressed. Driven by the series' mission to connect the citizens and residents of California, the Web site is a hub of interactivity where Golden State residents have an opportunity and platform for discussion and action.

Visit the online archives for information from past California Connected programs, including the Salton Sea, Northern Pike, Indian casinos, MTBE, and more.
