KVIE's
programming philosophy is to air and create programs that
reflect the community back to itself. In doing so, our productions
reflect our rich history, introduce us to the people and places
in the present, and help us plan for the future.
In
addition to our productions America's Heartland, California
Heartland, Central Valley Chronicles, and California Connected,
we are proud of the range of relevant, compelling and diverse
programs that we've produced this year.
And,
we're particularly proud that we earned 10 Emmy Awards in
2004, more than any other station in our market.

 American
Family - Journey of Dreams
Sunday nights on KVIE Channel 6
PBS'
widely acclaimed drama series chronicles the multigenerational saga
of one familys pursuit of the American dream. The new miniseries
interweaves the Gonzalez familys courageous escape from the Mexican
Revolution in 1915 to seek a better life in America with the sacrifices
the family made in the 1990s to send their first-born son to medical
school and the consequences of those sacrifices as seen through the
war in Iraq.
In conjunction with the new season of American Family, KVIE is engaged
with a number of organizations to help increase awareness for the program
and Latino health and education issues.
Community
Partnerships
KVIE will be participating at community health fairs conducted by MAAP
and by La Familia Counseling Center. For more information about these
events, please call 916-641-3649..
On April 15, 2004, we held a reception and screening of the program
on the California State University, Sacramento campus. The screening
was brought to you in partnership with The Serna Center and the Sacramento
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Major funding for the American Family - Journey of Dreams television
series is provided by Johnson & Johnson, the American Legacy Foundation,
the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and PBS.
