For Healthy Kids
PBS TeacherLine, an accredited professional development
program, helps teachers acquire the skills they need to
prepare students for a successful future.
KVIE
is a key part of the solution to providing all ages with
educational opportunities. We are a trusted classroom resource,
helping teachers supplement their lessons by providing access
to the best of our primetime schedule and our programs.
Through our membership with
PBS, we provide TeacherSource, an online Web site for pre-K-12
educators that helps them incorporate digital media in the
classroom. PBS Teacherline provides high-quality professional
development for K-12 teachers with more than 68 online facilitated
courses.
How Parents Can Help
Parents are the most important role models for children. One in 10 children are overweight and out of shape largely due to inactivity and junk-laden diets. Teaching healthy habits at an early age is important because change becomes difficult with age. Do activities with your child that promote healthy eating such as the Arthur "Healthy Snacks" activity. Use this game from the United States Department of Agriculture to teach your child how to make healthy food and activity choices. Kaiser Permanente has a wealth of resources for parents to help their kids eat healthy and stay active.
