KVIE is far more than television. In fact, we don't think of ourselves as being in the business of television. Our business, rather, is really about ideas, learning, arts and culture, and citizenship. Television is simply the means by which we deliver these resources to our community.

As a public service, we profit by improving the community in which we depend for support. We succeed to the extent that our children learn, our viewers become engaged in matters that concern them, and those within our communities join together in a common cause.

Volunteering at KVIE
Did you know every year, KVIE volunteers donate over 10,000 hours of their time in support of Public Television? Over 1,500 volunteers keep KVIE running smoothly by providing clerical support in the office, fundraising crew during our pledge drives, and special events staff for activities at the station and beyond.

Group Opportunities
KVIE relies on groups of volunteers during our seasonal pledge drives. Groups of 8-12 volunteers staff the KVIE Phone Bank, taking calls from supporters and donors. All data is entered into KVIE’s computer system – volunteers should have basic to intermediate computer knowledge, and the ability to speak clearly in English over the phone. Most groups are seen live on television during their shift – it is a great opportunity for team visibility. Additionally, pledge phone banks receive on-air recognition for their participation. Phone Bank shifts are typically 6-10:30pm seven days a week and 9:00am-1:00pm on weekends during Membership Pledge Drive dates. School groups are welcome with adult supervision.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities
KVIE counts upon support from the community for daily help. Most of our volunteer positions are currently on an as needed basis. Below are some examples of volunteer opportunities.

Education & Outreach – assemble workshop packages, label children’s books for community distribution, and more. Bi-lingual volunteers (Spanish and English) are often needed.
Production – tape logging, program transcribing, folding/packaging DVDs
Fundraising Events – special events staff (Golf Classic, Art Auction, Studio Concerts), alcohol and food service, greeters/registration/guest relations, Pledge Crew (Studio Captains, Auditors, Teleprompters, Friends of KVIE Phone Bank)
Clerical assistance – large mailing projects, database maintenance, manning the front desk

to complete the Volunteer Application Form online. All potential volunteers must have an application on file in order to be considered for any position. Your information will be added to our volunteer database, and you will receive our regular email newsletters and volunteer requests. Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, KVIE is unable to process volunteer applications over the phone.
