Producer/Reporter, California Heartland

Executive Producer of Content Creation and Series Producer for California Heartland

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise story ideas, research topics and interview subjects relevant to California Heartland content, focusing on agriculture, the people, products and processes involved.
  • Creatively report feature stories for the state-wide public television program.
  • Ability to direct field production crew.
  • Log tapes and write story script in a timely manner.
  • Create detailed story scripts with voice-over and sound bite content that will require minimum supervision in post production.
  • Produce additional content for promotion and/or web use
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Special Skills:

  • Ability to cover a broad range of topics including local history, agriculture, science and nature, and people profiles.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and paying critical attention to production and technical details.
  • Ability to interact effectively with production staff, program guests, and interview subjects.
  • Strong broadcast writing skills and on-air presence.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, internet, and specialized production technology
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel throughout California 1-2 days
  • Basic knowledge of television field production and HD programming.

Education:

  • College B.A. or B.S. or equivalent training and experience, preferably in journalism or related discipline.
  • 4+ years television experience as producer/reporter.
